Barry Shortt
Position: D R
A tough-tackling right back, Barry embodied the spirit of the club during his long service with Seaford, which when he was just 18 years old. Initially used as a striker or central midfielder for the seconds, he soon found his calling as a rock-solid defender on the first team, winning the club's player-of-the-year award in 2003.
Having briefly left the club, Barry man returned in 2009 and made a an enormous contribution to a very youthful second team, before reclaiming his spot with the firsts, where his whole-hearted displays helped Ronnie McLoughlin's side to consecutive promotions.
The Bray man was not renowned for his attacking contributions, to say the least, and in fact it took him more than 200 first team appearances to score his first goal, which finally arrived in September 2011, when from a short-corner his cross looped over the Park Celtic keeper and into the top corner. There's still time for him to get an intentional one.
