Match Report: Ballymun United 4-0 Seaford Rock United
LSL Sat Major 1
A heavily depleted Seaford side suffered some severe punishment at the hands of a supremely impressive Ballymun United side
The hosts dominated thoroughly from start to finish , as the Penguins barely mustered a meaningful attack, but did defend doggedly until the last, with a spirited second half display maintaining respectability.
Oisin Geoghegan started his busy afternoon with a save from Dylan Simpson, who was laid in by Frankie Habra following a slick one-two on the edge of the box. Then Ryan Fulham shot just wide after Ian Nolan’s well-timed tackle on Karl O'Reilly.
The deadline was broken on 29 minutes when O'Reilly beat the offside trap and slotted past Geoghegan.
And a second Mun goal just before half-time proved a demoralising blow for the Penguins. This time it was finished by Rabbi Tabu , who was set up by David White after Seaford failed to fully clear a corner.
Ballymun continued to dominate territorially after the break but there were few clear cut chances. Simpson was desperately unlucky not to score when his effort from wide clattered off one post and then the other bust somehow stayed out. But shortly after, substitute Oisin Donohue evaded his man near the halfway line and sped through to make it 3-0.
Danny Mondiwa added some more sheen to the scoreline when he added a fourth in the final 20 minutes, and although the host might have added more, Seaford did at least muster some chances towards the end , with Garrett Connolly lifting his shot wide after being brilliantly laid in by Sam Browne, and another substitute Jack Burke forcing 1 into a parry in the final minutes.
But the outcome had long been beyond doubt, leaving Seaford to lick their wounds, shorten their injury list and look forward to future challenges.
