Match Report: Baldoyle United 4-1 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Premier 1
Seaford Premiers recent winning run ended with a 4-1 defeat to a clinical Baldoyle United at Brookfield Road this past Saturday afternoon.
The home side took the lead after 90 seconds when Ian Mckinsky converted Sean McGuinness’s cross from close range. A frenetic first 10 minutes saw chances at both ends, with Christian McKenna’s pace causing Baldoyle’s back-line untold problems. It was his cross that ended up at the feet of Jamie McCaul who crashed in an unstoppable shot from 25 yards in the 10th minute. Gavin Nugent denied McKinskey with a superb block before both teams settled down.
Six minutes before half-time, Baldoyle struck again through Sean Lowry, who latched onto a precise through ball to slip under the onrushing keeper. 2-1 at the break.
Then United scored 2 goals in 8 minutes to put daylight between the sides. McKinsey added his second, cutting in from the left to slot into the far corner. Then, McGuinness scored a rebound after a deflected cross hit the post for him to score from inches out.
Seaford didn’t let their heads drop and Brian Mullally won a penalty, which was saved and Cian McCabe almost buried Joe O'Hara’s through ball but was denied by Dan Murray’s outstretched leg.
A tough day at the office but Seaford will look to bounce back next week.
