Match Report: Balbriggan 1=1 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Premier

Mate Salacan’ s injury time free kick salvaged a point up in Balbriggan as Seaford’s Premiers returned to action after a two month hiatus.
The hosts took the lead in the 4th minute when Dylan Thomas raced onto a long ball and executed a superb lob to give Balbriggan the lead. Seaford, wearing their navy colours, controlled the play and eventually created some openings.
Elridge Valois got in behind in the 31st minute, but a defender recovered to take the sting out of the shot. Shane Gilroy shot just over from outside the box 5 minutes later, whilst Eddie Xiang’s marauding run and cut-back from left-back just evaded Gavin Walsh arriving in the box. Up the other end, Rob Maloney headed off the line from Jake Morris’ header. 1-0 at the break.
The second half was littered with stoppages in the early stages so it wasn’t until 65 mins that the Penguins threatened again, when Gilroy’s low effort when just wide at the near post.
Having been reduced to 10 men, the signs were ominous for Seafprd but they showed their resolve by forcing a number of corners. Killian Campion forced Cathal Downey into a brilliant save with a precise header, whilst Niall Holleran also when close.
The goal came with Shane Halpin forced a free-kick and Salacan curled a superb left-footed effort to equalise. The visitors when close to winning when Downey denied Gilroy but the final whistle left Seaford looking to next weekend’s vital clash with Larkview at Rockfield Park.
