Story of the Season: First Team
It was a difficult season for the first team, who struggled to overcome the departure of key players Neil Harrington and Ian MacHugh the previous summer. It seemed to have been a positive start to the campaign, with a 4-2 win over Crumlin United, but that result was ultimately expunged when the home side withdrew from the league.
Seaford endured a lousy autumn, with a string of poor defeats interrupted only by a handful of scrappy draws. Matters were exacerbated by season-ending injuries suffered before Christmas by Dan Kiely, Paddy Blaney and Paul McPhillips.
Whilst the team's home form was very poor, Seaford showed a lot for fight on the road, earning a gutsy 2-1 win over Jobstown Celtic courtesy of goals by Peter Glynn and Matt Tappin, before brilliant fightbacks against eventual champions Inchicore Athletic (when Paul Murphy and Barry Lowry both scored in the final five minutes) and Manortown United (with Darragh Connolly netting a stunning 87th minute winner).
The side enjoyed some brief respite with an impressive against Major side Eblana in the Cullen Cup, but were knocked by Liffey Wanderers at the quarter final stage. Steve Kane thought he'd scored a briliant winner with his 82nd minute free kick, but was dismissed for his over-exuberent celebration, and Liffeys grabbed a late equaliser before eventually prevailing 4-3 after extra time.
Consecutive wins over Blessington and Athy Town seemed to have given the side some breathing space in their battle against relegation, but Seaford endured a terrible end to the season, losing five of the last six. A Stephen Faherty-inspired win over Jobstown, combined with an equally dreadful close to the season from Athy, was enough to ensure the club avoided the drop.

It was always going to be a tough task for the seconds to replicate the excitement of their previous campaign, which ended with victory in the Arthur Lynch Cup, and not for the first time in recent seasons, they made very poor start, losing five straight games after a Colm Condon hat-trick had secured an opening day win over Terenure.
The ship was steadied by two big wins over Park Vale and Laytown United in consecutive away matches. Pacey striker Gav Greene scored in each of his first five appearances for the club, as Paddy Hughes's men made it six wins out of seven in all competitions.
But things went badly wrong from that point onwards, with a draw against Carriglea being the only time the side avoided defeat in the next ten, a run which included some heavy defeats as injuries and unavailability took their toll.
Some pride was restored with four wins out of the last five, the last of which over Beechhill United was memorable for a breathtaking left-footed striker by player of the season Matt Tappin, but overall it was a season to forget for the second team.
